OS X itself will zip files/folders. In the
Finder, select what you want to zip, ctrl-click
on a selected item, and a menu should pop up with
one of the options being "Create Archive of
"(either the name of a single item selected, or
the number of items selected if a multiple
selection)".
I regularly send zipped archives to a PC friend with no problems.
Drag and drop works fine with Eudora, however,
not if dragged to the body of the e-mail. The
attachment should appear in the Attachments:
space.
