Hi Robert, Thanks for the explanation about the Beam Over Barlines plug-in. But in that case, as Johannes asked, why not just turn Automatic Update Layout off from within the plug-in? You can then do a manual update layout, do the plug-in changes, run further manual update layouts if needed, then restore the original AUL settings when done.
If this won't work I'd like to know what I'm missing, since it will probably come in handy some time in the future!
