I see the announcement on the Forum. The upgrade list is not as meagre as all that. Some of the better features, for me:

Measure numbers apparently can be controlled differently in parts and score. Even if this is only font, size, and position, it is a HUGE improvement! They were not putting this one front and centre, though I think it deserves the star billing.

The chord symbol improvements seem to be substantial, like attaching them to beats instead of to items. Two chords per bar over a whole note, whoo-hoo! Playback and entry are improved, as is the ability to scale the entire chord symbol without screwing up the kerning.

Auto rehearsal marks (good for us jazz and show guys!)

More control over alternate notation. I don't know what this means exactly, but I always wanted that to be easier.

Improved percussion notation, entry, and playback. Once again, not huge amounts of detail, but it seems the dreaded percussion maps might be easier to deal with, and you can invoke auto notehead changes (like x's for cymbals) without access to a MIDI keyboard.

A bunch of stupid, stupid bugs are fixed, though the list is incomplete so I never know if the ones that bother me are fixed or not. Disappearing staff list expressions whenever you delete measures was one that just about killed me on a recent project, apparently fixed. A bunch of idiotic behaviours involving expressions when copying to different staves or adding staves were fixed. Secondary beam stubs that point the wrong way (I just ran into that one!) are fixed. Somebody not from MakeMusic mentioned better importation of old files - I don't know about that, but it would certainly be nice!

Some good news, at any rate. I'm buying. I can always stay on 2009 if it proves to be too buggy.

Christopher
