How do you separate users characteristics from program characteristics in

I think the key here is taking it entirely out of a competitive context.
The goal here using a few, but diverse, examples to demonstrate what an
experienced engraver can do with a particular piece of software. The
participants could be encouraged to add some commentary, describing their
approach to each project, the tool sets used within each program, the
workflow and the elapsed time required for each project. I think there
should certainly be room for both engraving which attempts to reproduce
some historical model, for "out-of-the-box" styles associated with each
product, and for individual (house) styles of engraving.
