Double-check that "use MIDI keyboard" IS indeed checked, if you haven't done so already. Sometimes it has a mind of its own, or it's easy to untick accidentally.

Everything was working fine before I installed the latest Java security update for Macintosh the other day. Finale 2008. Mac OS X 10.5.8 Any idea if the new security update is the culprit?
