MusicXML transfers should work fine from Finale 2009 on Windows to Finale 2007 on Mac, unless the Mac user did a custom install that excluded the MusicXML feature. In that case the user would need to reinstall the MusicXML feature. You may see some error messages when importing due to 2009 using a later version of MusicXML than 2007, but those can usually be safely ignored.
Zipping the file before sending can help avoid e-mail corruption that sometimes happens. 2007 does not support compressed .mxl files, so you and your colleague will need to zip and unzip manually. The transfer into 2007 will be more accurate with the Dolet 5 for Finale plug-in, which as 3 years worth of new features and bug fixes compared to Finale 2007's built-in MusicXML support. It is available for a 10-day free trial at: http://store.recordare.com/dolet5fin.html If there are still problems, it would help to have more specifics, such as the exact error message the Mac user is getting when trying to import.
