Hi Aryeh, Yes, we're uploading excerpts from the software as a PDF file, rather than printing the PDF and mailing a paper copy. We are part of that half that is totally digital.
You get an acknowledgment that the PDF was uploaded, and I believe that includes the file name so you can confirm you uploaded the right one. I don't recall if you can actually view the file afterwards, but network uploads of PDFs are pretty reliable these days. If it doesn't work you can try again. There aren't any drawbacks to using eCO in our company's case. But every situation is different, so consult your attorney. Only they can really answer the questions specific to your situation, not the copyright office.
