Select time signature tool, double click the first bar of the section you want in 2/2.
When the dialogue box opens, click on "options" Select "Use a different time signature to display" Select 2 beats in "Number of beats" and 2 in "note duration" which will give you the cut time symbol, Then un-check the "abbreviate" box - this should give you what you want.
