I just experienced the file overwrite bug again, after several versions without seeing it. Here is the tech support message I sent:

I just had a Finale file overwritten by the contents of another Finale file. Disaster was averted by the last backup being okay still, but I thought you guys should know about this potentially devastating bug.

The scenario was the same as almost every time this bug has gotten me. I had a file open and was working on it when I opened another file with a different title. Both files had been created brand new from inside 2010, though I had previously imported a library for the second file.

I made some layout edits for File 2 (called Wedding Song here) printed one part to PDF, saved and closed the window. I noticed that the window for File 1 (called Mi Chamocha v.1 SATBcant.mus here) had closed, and supposed that I had accidentally hit command-W twice in close succession. When I reopened Mi Chamocha however, it had the contents of Wedding Song in it! I never saved as... nor changed any filename, nor even saw the file selector window (except to save the PDF.)

This is exactly the same thing that used to happen to me in old versions of Finale when I had two files open at once.
