Nope -- totally common notational convention. Well, usually, the rondeau theme *is* repeated the first time, though not on subsequent appearances, so he needed it for the first repeat, but casually put a double repeat in instead of a one-sided one. There's no closing repeat bar or rubric for it, so you just disregard the beginning repeat there. So, where the MS has this: :||: ...you simply engrave: :|| This is bog-standard notational loosness in lots of repertory both before and after the Graupner. -- David W.
