This is a new feature in 2010. EVERYTHING about the measure numbers can now be different between parts and score. Whoo-hoo!
In 2007 of course he is out of luck. If he wants linked parts, he has to follow your advice. He can extract parts, but then he loses linked parts. I think jeff chippewa had another technique, involving hiding the unwanted region in score, then hiding the OTHER region in parts.
