32-bit programs run in "32-bit mode". They are processed in a special manner.
It depends on what the program is doing as to whether it will work.
If it has any special hardware drivers, it probably won't work.
If it accesses Microsoft's Access database, it won't work.
If it uses Adobe Flash, it won't work.
That said, "most" programs do work. Because "most" programs don't do
special stuff.
I believe Microsoft has a web site with lists of programs that do and don't
work.
