Thanks Lawrence ... I kind of stumbled upon the way to do the measure and time sig. thing, but I hadn't figured out the meas. numbering problem yet .... this ought to do it ...

To Write Incipit:

Using speedy entry in speedy dropdown list uncheck "jump to next measure"
and "check for extra notes".

Enter your incipit.

Select the bar.

Either use JWTimesignature plugin or count up the number of beats in the bar
and set the time signature accordingly for that one bar.

Double click the bar with measure tool and in the dialogue box under "time
signature" click "always hide"

For bar numbering:

using measure tool, under drop-down menu select "measure numbers" - "edit
regions".

set region 1 to include measure 1 to measure 1

Add new region. Set region 2 to include measures 2 to 999 (or whatever)

I'm not sure if all this qualifies as "easy" but it works.

Cheers,

Lawrence

What is the easiest way in which to create a measure which is without a time signature, and in which I can place as many durations as I please, and
which will not count as Measure One? This is for an incipit at the
beginning of a motet
