I set my slurs in Smart Slur Options>Initial Adjustment to Lift (max .167 inches) rather than Stretch so as to avoid high arcs when ending on a note with an accidental. I got this from Darcy Argue. There is still adjustment to do, but not nearly as much.
If you find yourself making the same adjustments over and over again, try to remember what you do so you can make it a default. Of course, understanding what the NAME of what you just did is, is a major battle!
