Yes, I have encountered exactly the same thing with an old file opened in finale 2009. It seemed to occur in a measure where there was a "dim." text expression, although this expression had no assignment for playback. I found the only way to get shot of it was to completely delete the measure (as in measure stack), just clearing the measure didn't work.
Still confused as to what causes it but I can never afford the time to investigate it properly!
