Well, it seems that I've stumbled across something that makes GPO's solo
strings playback a lot clearer at high tempos. Upon exploring the
documentation (which for this particular tweak is more-or-less
non-existant) and playing with it by myself, I have found that there is
a controller that affects the length of the samples, Controller #21,
ironically named "Length". The default value of this controller is 64.
By setting the value very low (Now I'm setting it to zero) by means of
an expression attached to the first note of the score, the playback of
these notes is MUCH clearer, and I am currently working on a piece with
eighth notes at dotted-half=100-120 and they are crisp and clean.
Also, the playback is helped by having the AWFUL ambience reverb turned
off. Is there anyway to make this the default setting instead of having
to fiddle it in EVERY new file?
