Christopher, I have used both of those methods for restoring the fonts, the one with fontbook and also the advanced method with clearfontcache. In this case, the Finale files were displaying properly but I could not print to PDF so didn't think that was the problem and turned out it wasn't. But yes, those two methods do restore the fonts when that Mac OS 10.6 font bug rears its ugly head.
Finale tech said to go into the chord with the control key. That was the key and now they print as well as display in Finale - here was my response to Finale tech. That was the key - selected the first chord with the control key then saw even tho all the chords were showing in Finale, in the individual "control" menu, "show fretboards" was not selected. I printed to PDF and that one fretboard displayed. Then went back into the file and selected the rest of the chord handles and in the "control" menu, turned on "show fretboards". In the past, didn't remember having to select show fretboards twice, but also, that was probably before you could print directly to PDF's. (hadn't used fretboards in a very long time and have used Finale since version 1.2.6!!! Thanks Chris - yes, I've had to use both those methods you have described several times for fonts. When you see the [Process Completed] message, quit the program and restart the computer. Quit Font Book and then launch Finale. This one solved it. I had never done anything unusual with my fonts other than installing the yearly upgrades, so I totally blame the Finale installers for this problem, though they blame Apple for changing how they use fonts in 10.6.
