The sound player that Sibelius uses for the 64-bit version is a 64-bit
player.

I just asked about why both versions are installed on 64-bit machines
and received the following answer from Daniel Spreadbury, which I quote
with his permission:

"Some folks may have 32-bit virtual instruments upon which they rely, and
since you can't mix the architectures of the host and any plug-ins that
run within it, you therefore need to have the 32-bit version of Sibelius
available to run them."

Daniel also said that he would be happy to answer anybody's questions
about the new version, simply email the questions to him directly at
[email protected].
