No program changes (save one), additions nor infections on this end; it only started about a month or so ago. To all outward indications, it's nothing more than an annoyance, but whenever anything of this illogical sort of nature begins to occur, I like to make sure it's not a sign of anything more insidious.
That said, the SINGLE additional program I've added to this computer - and the one I've suspected as the most likely possibility (though nothing more than a possibility) is Adobe InDesign CS5. It has its massive font components and there were some references on forums to this problem arising when there were conflicts with language/fonts but - I removed that program entirely and am still having this behavior. And FWIW, I installed InDesign on another of my computers (running Win7) and it has no problem co-existing with Finale on THAT computer and OS... Thanks for your thoughts, Dennis - always appreciated. I'm still digging around, but - there are no reports of it being any sort of destructive behavior or threat-related indicator I've yet found: just a pesky li'l thaing.
