Aiiiee. There are so many regressions in Fin12 compared with Fin08, leaving
aside the transposition issues.

1. The removal of staff-lines from Staff Styles. What kind of non-musician
does it take to think that the number of staff lines has anything to do
with the instrument that is playing, other than a loose correlation?
Putting a flute cue in a bass drum part is now a much bigger pain,
especially since it can no longer be copied and pasted.

2. The re-introduction of a bug that was fixed in Fin06 or Fin07 that
clicking the forward or backward page arrow occasionally skips more than
one page. I feel like I've reverted 7 or 8 years every time it happens. If
only I felt 7 or 8 years younger at the same time, I might forgive MM.

3. The requirement to do stack selections for a host of copying actions
that simply should not require them. This was actually a regression
introduced in Fin08.

4. The removal of Mass Mover selection capabilities (also a Fin08
regression). I can't tell you how many times I am trying to do a precise
measure selection and end up selecting a tie, slur, or expression instead.
Curses!

5. The removal of note-attached expressions. Admittedly I think this will
be less a problem with a new project. Right now I am working on a project
that I imported into Fin12 from Fin08, and the expressions situation is a
nasty quagmire. (I imported because I must have the Unicode features of
Fin12. I was using EPS files for Japanese text in Fin08, and it was a buggy
nightmare when it came to printing. At least Fin12 has solved that.)

I blame myself partly: I could have been more active in the beta programs
for all these versions. But honestly to what extent is it incumbent upon
users who are busy themselves to help a software company get things right?
And there is no guarantee that MM would have listened anyway.

Now resuming regularly scheduled programming...
