Exactly these symptoms here (FinWin 2011). For me, reboot works (also a PitA). Restarting the audio hardware interface works sometime (though mine is a Saffire Pro-40 with 8 channels and takes almost as long as a reboot). Another solution is to run the task manager and make sure Finale actually exits before it's restarted. I got caught be that a few times. After Finale/Garritan runs, playback in my browser and media player are also affected. If I reboot, all my audio works fine until the next time I run Finale/Garritan.
