In a trombone section context, where I wanted a long-note chord progression 
played normally the 1st time and glissed the second time I kept the original 
notes under the added glisses, which played back as wanted.

In your context write a tied E through the empty bars and let the gfliss go 
from the beginning of the E to the C.
