I'm not into the more advanced playback techniques of later Finale versions, but in my FinWin 2005 I can put arco sounds on one layer and pizz. sounds on another, with separate MIDI channels and adjust the volumes independently for each layer using hidden expressions with MIDI controller 7 or 11 volume settings. And assuming there are no bars with music on both layers then the print-out is perfect too - no need for extra staves, hidden or otherwise. So I think that's not a cheesy method at all. That's exactly what I would do as a matter of course.

For a half-decent playback I just may have to copy onto additional staves the arco material that needs to be heard through the pizz. fireworks :-( Best, Dr.A.S.Weinstangel [email protected] NEW!!!!! cel.647-292-4605 > Date: Wed, 7 May 2014 17:20:07 -0400 > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [Finale] arco vs.pizz dynamics (repeated question) > > I believe the problem lies in the fact that the two different sample > sets were not recorded at the same volume level.
