If you are a Windows user, TAudioCOnverter works great. It is super fast, especially when converting a whole batch of files. It will use all the available cores and hyperthreads on your CPU. I realize it is an extra step in the our workflow, but it is so fast I don't mind that. If I am working with several files, the extra step is actually faster than letting the original app do the conversion.
