Darcy, I have no answer to your question, but I will mention that I am very happy with the autopositioning options in my Tuplet Mover plugin. It requires turning off engraver slurs and other automatic positioning options in Finale. (Otherwise the plugin does't know where the tuplet actually is.) So it is not something to adopt in mid-stream.
