If you remove it from the MacSymbolFonts.txt file, the unicode letters should be available. At least on Windows - I don't know about MacOS. You can find this file in the Finale 2014 / Configuration Files folder. If you remove the entry, it may be necessary to create a new font annotation file (Edit -> Preferences-> Edit->Font Annotation: then select the font and click "Auto-Annotate All", then save).
