The younger people I had spoken with when I first encountered this had no experience with the earlier behavior of Finale, so they had no idea what I was talking about. To them, nothing was wrong. I got nowhere. Nevertheless, I reiterate, things seem OK the way they are - just different, and I have stopped worrying.
