Has anyone been successful in importing a TIFF file score into Finale? I wanted to import a very legible, clean, crisp, 32-bar melody into Finale 2014, which I am testing in anticipation of upgrading from Finale 2008. This melody was originally a png file, which I converted into a PDF and then into a TIFF. It took several tries to get a properly gray-scaled TIFF file that SmartScoreLite would recognize, but at last the file showed up in the dialog box. I then tried to import this single page into Finale. The recognition process went on for 30 min. but never completed. After 30 min., I opened Sibelius, which I purchased a couple years ago but have never worked with enough to become comfortable. Nonetheless, Sibelius' scanning utility (Neuratron Photoscore Lite) imported the PDF into Sibelius without a single error, in less than 60 seconds. Thinking perhaps I should reconvert and resave my TIFF, I made a new TIFF, again "recognized" by SmartScoreLite. No luck. Three hours later Finale was still "recognizing" the file. Advice? Am I doing something wrong? Or is ScanScoreLite incapable of importing even short scores? Thanks in advance for any replies.Marilyn
