Dear Collective Wisdom,

I have been working with a student who is blind. What I have been doing is
using Finale to re-orchestrate some hymns, entering the four part harmony into
Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass lines, and then moving the lines around into the
different instruments for her. Finale’s playback allows her to hear how it
sounds with the selected instruments, we make changes and try again and good
things emerge.

The drawback with this method is that it requires a sighted person to
manipulate Finale. Is there some way, some application, or some set of
applications which might allow her to do this on her own? She can play piano,
and her computer is set up so that she can control it by voice. Does anyone
have any experience with this, or know where I might seek information about
this? I’d be grateful for any ideas.

With Thanks in Advance,

Bill Huber
