I'll go with Mike Cholewa. I use export as pdf rather than print, all the time. It gives me a pdf at the size of the doc, and it looks to me like it embeds all fonts.
I like to leave the printer page size at page, but what I don't know how to do is use the print dialog to center a small page so it doesn't print in the top left corner. It seems this should be embarrassingly simple.
