Ask whomever sent you those files to simply export as MusicXML from 
Sibelius and send you those files.  He/She can even download the full 
Dolet plugin for Sibelius for free to get even more complete export.

If he/she has Sibelius8 and they can send you Sibelius files, then they 
can send you MusicXML files as well.
