Separate staves aren't really necessary. Certainly you could put the 
section with a different EQ to layer 2 and assign layer 2 to a different 
instrument on a different VST bank. And on that bank you can add a VST EQ 
effect as desired.
Or simply select a different piano sound that is to the client's liking.
