if it is any consolation, redoing them all as gliss-custom-lines will mean you 
shouldn't have to adjust them in transposing parts :-| (whcih you will have to 
do with the built-in smart lines)

but i do think the parentheses are helpful for distinguishing between the start 
and the continuation of an 8va/vb line
