So I’ve been using Finale since version 2.0 and I’m finally getting to asking
this question regarding measure numbers in scores…
When I set up a project in Wizard I end up with a score that has bar numbers at
the top staff of each group. So, for instance, in the arrangement I’m working
on right now, on each page of the score (except p. 1, of course), I get bar
numbers at the start of the following staves...
Flute
Horn
Timpani
Percussion
Harp
Voices
Piano
Strings
…which looks cluttered to me. Ideally, I’d like the score to have bar numbers
maybe on the top staff and the 1st Violins or maybe top staff and bottom staff
only. But of course, I want bar numbers on all parts.
If I simply delete the bar numbers from the staves (in the score) where I don’t
want them will that affect the parts, or just the score?
Silly question, perhaps, but I’ve always wondered, and by the time I’m creating
and tweaking the parts, the last thing I want to do is start screwing up the
bar numbers, so I always end up leaving the score in its “cluttered” state…
