Cornell Education Matters invites you to a panel discussion and forum:

Community Engagement & the University:
Strengthening Public Scholarship at Cornell
Friday, April 29, 3 PM – 5 PM
Location TBA

During this time of university restructuring, it is vital that the university recommit to its public mission of forming and sustaining equitable, mutually beneficial partnerships with communities. At this panel discussion and forum, you can join the conversation and action towards greater community-university engagement by:

* Hearing diverse perspectives from university faculty, Extension educators, and community members on how we can support community- university engagement, and

* Contributing your ideas and making connections with others seeking to strengthen public scholarship at Cornell through an interactive visioning exercise.

"Democracy and democratic education are founded on faith in [people], on the belief that they not only can but should discuss the problems of their country, of their continent, the world, their work, the problems of democracy itself. Education is an act of love, and thus an act of courage."
-- Paulo Freire, Education as the Practice of Freedom (1974)
