Master Gardener Volunteer Training Starts February 2014

The Master Gardener Program of Tompkins County Cornell Cooperative
Extension is planning a Master Gardener volunteer training to start in February
2014. The Master Gardener Program is a national program of trained volunteers
who work in partnership with their county Cooperative Extension office to
expand the agency's educational outreach by providing home gardeners with
research-based information.

Master Gardener trainees should have a basic knowledge of gardening, enthusiasm
for acquiring new knowledge and skills, good communication skills, and have the
willingness and time to participate in volunteer activities.

Classroom training will take place Thursday evenings, 6:00-9:00 pm, in Ithaca,
from early February to mid-April. Hands-on, practical gardening skills will be
taught in garden settings over the spring and summer, then classes will resume
Thursday evenings in the fall.
