FINGER LAKES PERMACULTURE INSTITUTE
www.fingerlakespermaculture.org
invites you to an evening with keyline designer DARREN DOHERTY.

Thursday, June 21
7:30 - 9:30pm
Cayuga Nature Center Meeting Room
FREE (donations accepted)

Darren will provide an overview of the keyline system, which is a
planning tool to enhance the swift development of deep biologically
fertile soil - living soil. This is achieved through a systematically
designed landscape. Developing and deepening the soil's biological
fertility will rebuild the soil structure and reduce run-off. Keyline
methods increase the "field capacity" of the land. It will quickly
absorb and hold more water. The extra humus and depth of soil prevent
the leaching of nutrients including salt.

Keyline is also a set of principles, techniques and systems which form
the logical basis for a plan for the sustainable development of rural
and urban landscapes. The application of Keyline Design presents a great
departure from mere “Soil Conservation” as practiced by so many. The
application of Keyline pattern plowing for example is designed to not be
satisfied with Soil Conservation but with “Soil Creation”!
