PROGAMMING FOR WINTER AND SPRING 2008

-- WINTER WEEKENDS PERMACULTURE DESIGN COURSE (Jan 18 - May 11)
-- WINTER APPRENTICESHIP
-- CHILDRENS PROGRAM
-- PERMACULTURE BOOK CLUB
-- LOCAL FOODS BRUNCH

There is a world view which identifies humanity as a vital part of the
web of
life; indeed people have for thousands of years been stewards of Earth,
always
finding innovative ways to extract our needs for survival while
improving life
for other species and future generations.

We are part of a system defined by the pattern of relationships we
cultivate.
A quick look into the human concept of relationship and its destruction of
habitat, loss of topsoil, and decreasing quality of life brings a
question to
the surface: What types of relationships are we in?

This year, FLPCI will embark on a new campaign which deeply explores the
human
relationship to nature

FLPCI has been housed at the Cayuga Nature Center (CNC) since June of
2006 and
has recently completed a 5 year land use plan for approximately half of the
160 acres CNC currently operates on. The overall goal of the design is to
develop a site where the community can explore a diversity of human
relationships to landscape, including an expanded maple sugaring program, a
system of ecological gardens, and pastured animals at the farm.

In 2008 we are increasing the variety and scope of our programming. We have
introductory courses, an eight week study group, apprenticeships, and will
host our fifth Permaculture Design Certification on alternative weekends
from
January 18 through May 11. We also now offer children's programming in
collaboration with Trumansburg Learning Cooperative and a series of
classes on
special topics such as tree pruning, natural plasters, and mushroom
cultivation in conjunction with a local foods brunch one Sunday per month.

We invite you to join us as we collectively discover the unique
ecosystem that
we call home.

WINTER WEEKENDS PERMACULTURE DESIGN COURSE
Alternate weekends January 18 - May 11
Entire Course: $900 (Couples rate: $1600 for two) -- $800 if signed up
before 12/1
Single Class: $50
*SPECIAL* package (any 4 classes): $150

The Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute offers it's fifth PDC, a course
recognized around the world which equips students with the knowledge and
understanding of whole systems and the applications of design to create
systems which are ecologically sound and economically viable. We teach with
interactive and experiential learning and emphasize group process and
dynamics
as much as content. We offer a flexible schedule; take one or take them all,
the choice is yours.

Completion of all the course modules earns our participnants a
certificate in
permaculture design. As is with most education, the importance is not in the
paper, but in the process. Graduates walk away with a better
understanding of
systems and how they can observe, design and work toward positive change in
their environments. An in-depth look at the theories, best-practices, and
methodologies combined with day-long study, collaboration and practice
create
an intense and inspirational learning event.
