Pruning Classes in April

Want to learn about pruning landscape trees and shrubs? Join the Ithaca Citizen Pruner training program. Classes are free and open to the public and to folks who would like to become Citizen Pruner volunteers. The series starts with a program presented on Monday, April 5 by Dr. Nina Bassuk, Director of Cornell's Urban Horticulture Institute focused on Trees in the Urban Environment...challenges, plant choices and site mitigation. The next class on Monday, April 12 is all about tree pruning practices. Participants learn about how to prune young trees and mature branches. This class will be taught by Lewis Ward, forestry technician. And a final class on Monday April 19 with Monika Roth, Extension Educator, will cover how to prune shrubs. All classes begin at 7 PM and are being held at the Cooperative Extension office at 615 Willow Ave. These classes are free of charge, but registration is requested.
