I had the same thing happen last night. However, this is what the 
default .xinitrc sets up. I don't believe that X crashed because the 
xterms work fine. TWM is a low profile bare-bones window manager without 
much in the way of bells and whistles.

I edited .xinitrc to replace twm with sawfish and that worked ok.

However, I could not get GNOME to start :(  Any ideas?
Perhaps my gnome-session file is corrupt. That is just a guess. I'll 
have to explore that tonight.

I'm running 10.1.2 and the XonX 1.06.1 server.
