I could be wrong about this (i am not a *sql expert), but I think you need a real hostname. In that, taran.your.dialup.isp.com does not exist. With that being said,I am not sure if you should leave it at localhost or leave it at automatic and grab the hostname of the ip address you get when you establish a dialup connection.
(BTW: do people use mysql for other reasons then web/db interface reasons?)
