Hey Folks,

This is probably simple, but I can't find anything in the faq or
beginner/users mail lists (wish geocrawler had a search ability for the
archives) so here I am!

Background:
o Running OSX 10.1 with dev tools
o already have x11 v4.2 installed from XonX
o running Fink 0.3.2.a (binary installer version)
o attempted : sudo apt-get install gimp

gimp wanted 18 other packages installed (since this was my first fink usage)
and I approved...

all seemed to run fine until fink finished fetching the packages it needed
and it crashed with the following:

dpkg: parse error, in file `/sw/var/lib/dpkg/available'
near line 1616 package `fink': missing version
        E: Sub-process /sw/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

So, I decided to check out the offending lines in the abovementioned file
(below are lines 1606-1620)
--------
        Package: fink
        Essential: yes
        Maintainer: Christoph Pfisterer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
        Architecture: ken.
         .
Needs help to link against the right copy of its library. We have
to
filter that flag out of the .la files afterwards since it refers to
         the temporary build directory.
         .
         Maintainer: Christoph Pfisterer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

        Source: fink
        Version: 0.9.7-1
        Depends: base-files
        ..... and so on....
--------

Any ideas on what I've done wrong or any adjustments I could make to appease
dpkg?

Thanks in advance for a fantastic product!
