Greetings!
I'm a new convert to Apple and OSX from many years in the DOS and Windows
world. (actually since they've existed) I absolutely love OSX and love it's
Unix underpinnings. I've just started playing around with Fink and have
been unable thus far to install anything successfully. I'm familiar with
the various window managers from about 2-3 years of Linux. Here's what I'm
trying to do. I type the following on the command-line:
<sudo fink install windowmaker>
Then I answer all the dependency questions by accepting the defaults. The
downloads begin and finish. Then I get the following message:

rm -rf dlcompat-20010831-1
mkdir -p /sw/src/dlcompat-20010831-1
tar -xvzf /sw/src/dlcompat-20010831.tar.gz
dlcompat-20010831/
dlcompat-20010831/APPLE_LICENSE
dlcompat-20010831/ChangeLog
dlcompat-20010831/dlfcn.h
dlcompat-20010831/dlopen.c
dlcompat-20010831/Makefile
dlcompat-20010831/README
make prefix=/sw
Can't exec "make": No such file or directory at
/sw/lib/perl5/Fink/Services.pm line 180, <STDIN> line 3.
### make failed, exit code -1
Failed: compiling dlcompat-20010831-1 failed

What do I need to do differently? Do I need to install make? Everything
I've tried to install so far have ended up similarly. I speak fluent DOS,
but I've only had some intro courses in Unix, so keep it as dummy proof as
possible.

Thanks!
