The author/maintainer updated slang to 1.4.5, but that wasn't
listed in fink (stable) yet.  He also deleted the 1.4.4 version
from his ftp site, which is causing the problems you're
experiencing.  You can still get the source for
slang 1.4.4 and compile it.  The file is located at:

http://fink.sourceforge.net/bindist/source/

   download slang-1.4.4.tar.gz to /sw/src and type:

%sudo fink install slang

That should do the trick and enable you to install the rest.
deselect will probably also recognize the file and proceed
installing things, if you prefer using that interface.
deselect is pretty nice once you understand how it
presents the information.
