When the Sound Manager dock app starts up in Gnome, I get an error
dialog (in Gnome) saying "Cannot connect to the sound daemon. The
sound daemon can be started by selecting 'Start ESD' from the right
click menu, or by running 'esd' at a command prompt." Selecting
'Start ESD' doesn't seem to do anything, whereas typing 'esd' spouts
back a whole bunch of soundy stuff, but sound still doesn't work. Any
ideas?
While I'm at it, here's a couple other Gnome questions...
- Redraw while moving windows or scrolling is pretty pokey. Is there
a way to speed it up (or, alternately, disable "live" window moving
and scrolling)?
- How do I change a theme in Sawfish? Yeah, I RTFM'd; it said to
select the theme's tarball. Doing that doesn't give any sort of
error, but the theme doesn't appear in the "Available Themes" list
either.
- Is there a way to add a program to the Programs menu without having
to "sudo startx -- -quartz"?
