Thanks for the reply and sorry for bothering you again. I did try rebuild
gnome-vfs by doing a 'fink install gnome-vfs'. It downloaded 7 more things
(dependencies??) and started doing its thing. I got an error message at some
point as following:

I don't quite understand why I am getting errorw with "gnome-vfs-ssl" in it.
Should I have build and install gnome-vfs-ssl instead?
Should I use 'dselect' to do this?

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much.
