Whoops, forgot to cc: this to the list. It's late...forgive me.
Chris
P.S. While I'm at it, I may as well tag on to the last paragraph:
Is the source any smaller of a download than the binary?

So, say I'm using X11 (Fink's install...is that the best way to go? Or
should I use one of the official binary distributions?) and a couple
different window managers, currently Sawfish. What would I do to get Gnome
up and running?
Here's a list of the Gnome stuff I have and don't have (copied from "fink
list"):
gnome-applets 1.4.0.5-2 Various applets for GNOME panel
gnome-audio 1.4.0-3 Audio files for Gnome.
gnome-core 1.4.0.6-2 Common files for Gnome core apps.
gnome-games 1.4.0.3-5 GNOME games collection.
i gnome-libs 1.4.1.4-2 Base libraries for GNOME
gnome-pim 1.4.0-1 Calendar and address book for GNOME.
i gnome-print 0.35-2 Gnome Print - Printing libraries for GNOME.
gnome-user-docs 1.4.1.1-2 General GNOME User Documentation
gnome-utils 1.4.1.2-2 GNOME utility programs
i gnome-vfs 1.0.3-2 The GNOME virtual file-system libraries
gnome-vfs-ssl 1.0.3-2 The GNOME virtual file-system libraries,
wi...
gnomemm 1.2.2-1 C++ interface for the GNOME libraries
Also, for a 56K modem and a G4 350, would it be more time efficient to do a
source compiling of the Gnome stuff or to download the binaries? Are the
binaries behind the source (in terms of version) if I've got the source set
to download with info directly from CVS? (This is a general question that's
been nagging on my mind for a while.) Also, just out of curiosity, why would
anyone *not* want to have their fink install set to update via CVS?
