'configure' should be able to figure this out.  If it can't, it's 
possible that the files 'config.guess' and 'config.sub' are not up to 
date.  Save the ones in your source directory as backups, and then copy 
the versions in "/usr/libexec" to the source directory, and rerun 
'configure'.

'config.guess' should return something like "powerpc-apple-darwin5.4".
