Hi! I have a problem with xdvi... it's bloody slow in opening documents. I have xfree86 and tetex installed manually (not via fink) and then I installed system-tetex and xdvi. When I open a dvi file it takes a long time checking fonts. And when I say long I mean really long, it can be minutes for long documents. Here is an example of the messages I get
mktexpk: /var/tmp/texfonts/pk/cx/public/cm/cmsy10.329pk already exists. - mktexpk --mfmode cx --bdpi 300 --mag 'magstep(0)' --dpi 300 cmmi6 '>&3' mktexpk: /var/tmp/texfonts/pk/cx/public/cm/cmmi6.300pk already exists. - mktexpk --mfmode cx --bdpi 300 --mag 'magstep(0)' --dpi 300 cmmi8 '>&3' This seems a normal tex message, but I can't believe it is supposed to be so slow. Moreover this happens every time I open a file, even if I close and reopen the same file. Also, I experience no similar problems with ghostview (with ps files) or with another dvi previewer which doesn't use Xwindow. Any idea on how to sort this out? Many thanks, cheers Stefano _______________________________________________________________ Have big pipes? SourceForge.net is looking for download mirrors. We supply the hardware.
