Hi all,

I have installed fink using "fink-0.4.0-installer.dmg" on a G4 with a
French version of MacOS 10.1.4.
I set the proxy with "fink configure", and it has been working like
this for a while.
I have just installed FinkCommander 0.3.1 which seems a nice GUI, but
when I first tried to install a binary package I got a message saying
it could not connect to the web server.
I therefore went to the preferences/Download tab, unchecked the "use
passive FTP mode" box to see what would happen, then tried again and
got the following message:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hit http://fink.sourceforge.net release/main Packages
Ign http://fink.sourceforge.net release/main Release
53% [Working]FATAL -> Could not set non-blocking flag Operation not
supported by device
E: Method http has died unexpectedly!
E: Tried to dequeue a fetching object (repeated many times)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I then checked again the "use passive FTP mode" box, tried again, got
the same message.

I then quitted FinkCommander, and tried "sudo dselect" which used to work fine.
But when choosing to display the list of available packages, I got
the same error message as above.

It seems like either:
- FinkCommander has somewhat damaged my fink configuration file,
- or my Firewall settings have changed (I can check this with my
network administrator, but I doubt this has happened since I'm still
able to do ftp from my web browser).

Thanks in advance,

Herv
